LIFT MODERNISATION
BACK TO GUIDES
At DSW Solutions, modernising your lift means more than just replacing parts, it’s a strategic upgrade to improve safety, efficiency, and design. For a Back to Guides modernisation, we strip the installation back to the guide rails, then install a complete, modern lift system inside them.
KEPT
Guide rails and brackets, the structural backbone of your lift

RENEWED
Car, Sling, Machine, Controller, Doors, Safety Gear, OSG and Wiring

WHAT IS BACK TO GUIDES?
A back to guides modernisation sits between a component upgrade and a full replacement. Everything that wears out, from the machine and controller to the car, sling, doors and safety components, is removed and replaced with new equipment. The car and counterweight guide rails and their brackets stay in place.
Guide rails are fixed to the building structure and, when properly maintained, can last for the life of the building. Keeping them means less disruption, less drilling into the shaft, and a faster return to service, while your building gets a lift that performs like new.

Why Choose Back to Guides?
Less building work
Rails and brackets stay fixed to the structure, so there is far less drilling, scaffolding and making good in the shaft.
Shorter downtime
With no need to dismantle and realign the rails, the lift is back in service sooner than with a full replacement.
Lower investment
Reusing sound structural components reduces material and labour costs compared with stripping back to a bare shaft.
No manufacturer lock-in
We install open protocol controllers such as ARKEL and NEWlift, so your building is free to choose its maintenance provider.
Lower carbon footprint
Keeping heavy steel components in place avoids the embodied carbon of manufacturing, transporting and disposing of them.
Let us help you find the most cost-effective, compliant, and future-proof solution for your building.
